Lechner Hired as New Assistant Athletic Trainer at Catholic

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Catholic University Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics Sean Sullivan announced today that Bryan Lechner has been hired as an Assistant Athletic Trainer. He comes to Catholic after working as an athletic trainer at Pivot Physical Therapy while also serving as the Head Athletic Trainer for Gaithersburg High School.

"I am excited to welcome Bryan to Catholic," said Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Medicine Jaime Walls. "He is a very skilled and knowledgeable athletic trainer with experience working directly with track and field athletes and specific lower extremity injuries. His knowledge will be great addition to our team and have an immediate and positive impact on the health and well being of our student-athletes."

Lechner had worked at Pivot since July 2017 while also being responsible for providing care to all 42 athletic teams for the Trojans.

Lechner served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Monterey Peninsula College from August 2015 to May 2017 while earning his masters of kinesiology with a focus in athletic training from San Jose State University in May 2017. While at MPC, he provided care to all 14 intercollegiate teams for the Lobos and was responsible for traveling with the football and basketball teams. In addition, he also served as a preceptor for MPC athletic training students and served as a teaching assistant at San Jose State.

"I am extremely excited to contribute to an already outstanding sports medicine staff here at Catholic," said Lechner. "I am very grateful for this opportunity and eager to continue to provide the highest quality care for the student-athletes."

Lechner received his bachelor of science degree in athletic training in May 2015 from Central Methodist University where he competed in track and field. He is a board certified athletic trainer and licensed in the state of Maryland. He also has a Tecnica Gavilan manual therapy certification, expeirence using Mulligan Mobilization with movement techniques and LESS screening for ACL prevention and specializes in the evaluation and rehabilitation of hamstring injuries.
