William "Bucky" Ennis III '51

Inducted June 8, 1985

Bucky Ennis distinguished himself as one of the university's most valuable athletes. For four years he excelled in both football and boxing, winning varsity letters for three years in each sport. A halfback speedster on the football team, he was its most consistent ground gainer, while in the ring, his combination of quickness and strength took him to the semifinals of the Eastern Intercollegiate Athletics Association.

A tenacious competitor, Ennis was good-natured and studious. This combination of qualities earned him the coveted Harris Cup award in 1951, in recognition of his four years of outstanding service to the University as a scholar, an athlete, and a gentleman.
