The women's cross country team, along with some members of the men's squad, helped make one of First Generation College Bound's fundraisers a success.  This non-profit organization, established by women's cross country Head Coach Joe Fisher, seeks to help students get into college who would be the first member of their family to do so.  The fundraiser was a 5K road race held in Laurel, Md.  It was a sunny, beautiful day; perfect racing weather.  Covering the course as the fastest woman of the day was senior Alys Cheatle.  Her time of 20:21 was good enough to claim the women's title, while fellow teammates Remy Ball and Mary Shashaty each won their age groups of 14-19 and 20-29, respectively.  The women's cross country team had only six women run the race, as many runners were struggling with injuries.  Representing the CUA men's cross country team were Andrew Smith, Stephen Jochem, John Puskar and Scott Pospiech.  Andrew Smith placed seventh overall, winning his age group. -Samantha McClellan
