McCarthy named to Team of the Week

WASHINGTON – One day after receiving Landmark Conference Player of the Week honors, freshman Colin McCarthy was named to the Team of the Week.  McCarthy batted an impressive .636, which included his first collegiate home run, in a 3-1 week for CUA last week.

McCarthy went 7 for 11 at the plate last week, totaling four runs, a double, a home run, 10 RBI and a 1.000 slugging percentage along the way.  He also finished with 20 putouts and a 1.000 fielding percentage at first base.

McCarthy went 3 for 4 with four RBI in a game one win over Juniata on Saturday, followed by a 1 for 3 showing with one RBI in game two.  On Sunday, McCarthy went 3 for 4 with five runs batted in, in addition to his first collegiate round tripper, in CUA's 15-10 come-from-behind win over Juniata.

For the season, McCarthy is batting a healthy .510 with 25 hits, 14 runs, eight doubles and 22 runs batted in.

McCarthy and the Cardinals are back in action on Wednesday afternoon when they hit the road to face No. 4 Salisbury.  Start time is set for 3:30 p.m.
