Catholic Sweeps Juniata After Day One of Weekend Action

WASHINGTON – Marc Hanna recorded his first out-of-the-park homerun of the season on Saturday during the Cardinals doubleheader against Juniata.  CUA defeated the Eagles 4-2 and 3-0.

With game one tied 2-2, Eric Scamardella flied out to centerfield, scoring Dan Hinchcliff for the lead, 3-2 at the end of the fourth.

Scamardella went on to single a line drive to left field scoring William Smith in the bottom of the sixth en route to the 4-2 win.

Robin Mowatt picked up the win for the Cardinals.  Mowatt pitched seven innings and allowed two earned runs, six hits and no walks while striking out two.

During game two, Hanna contributed to the Cardinals 3-0 shutout when he homered to right field in the sixth inning, tallying two RBIs.

Colin Kelly earned the win, as he struck out four and allowed one walk and four hits.

Catholic wraps up its weekend with Juniata with a single 11:00 a.m. contest on Sunday, April 5 at Robert J. Talbot Field.
