Towson, Md. - Junior Brennan Cotter of The Catholic University of America baseball team earned Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week honors after his performance at the plate during opening week.
Cotter opened the 2017 Catholic baseball season with eight hits over three games. He drove in three RBIs in Catholic's season opening, 14-1, victory over St. Mary's on Wednesday.
On Saturday, Cotter came up big for the Cardinals' offense during their doubleheader versus Hood College. He recorded seven total hits including three doubles, a homerun and four RBIs.
In extra innings of game one, Cotter popped a sacrifice fly to right field to bring home the winning run. In game two he sent a 2-run rocket over the fence to put Catholic up 5-2. Later, Cotter hit an RBI double in the seventh to tie the game but Hood got one more home in the bottom in the inning to walk off with the win.
The Cardinals will travel to Washington College on Wednesday, March 1 for a nine-inning game against the Shoreman. First pitch set for 2:30 p.m.
