Catholic Baseball Downs Penn College, 10-1

Myrtle Beach, S.C. - The Catholic University of America baseball team topped Penn College with a final score of 10-1 on Thursday morning.

The Cardinals scored runs in four of the nine innings including a five-run seventh inning to capture the victory and advance their 2017 record to 7-2.

Sophomores Bailey Lewis and Ryan Tracy each batted in three runners during the spring break showdown. Lewis registered the first RBI of the day with a single in the first and then cracked a 2-RBI double in the second.

Sophomore Jake Crist reached home on an error in the first. Later, he came across the plate for the lone run of the fifth inning off an RBI double from junior Anthony Ferlise.

Crist drove in Lewis to start the Cardinals seventh inning scoring and later came home on a single to center field from Ferlise. Tracy capped off the Catholic scoring with a 3-RBI double.

Freshman Ross Dean pitched the first seven innings for the Cards. He tossed eight strikeouts and earned his first career win. Junior Christopher Hutton closed out the final two innings.

Catholic continues its spring break trip with a doubleheader versus Mt. Aloysius on Thursday, March, 10.
