Mierzwa Makes NWL All-Star Game

WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America baseball ace Jon Mierzwa continues to shine this summer as he was selected to the Northwoods League (NWL) All-Star Game as a member of the Fond du Lac (Wis.) Dock Spiders. 

The 2017 Northwoods League All-Star Game is set Tuesday, July 18. Mierzwa will be a part of the pitching staff for the South Division for the contest to be played at Athletic Park in Wausau, Wis.   First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

Mierzwa, a rising junior and two-time All-Landmark Conference starter, is 2-0 with a 1.52 ERA in five starts this season. He boasts 38 strikeouts in 23 2/3 innings pitched this summer.

The Laurel, Md., native, enjoyed a spectacular second season for Catholic as he led the Cardinals to a Landmark regular-season championship. He was recognized as an ABCA/Rawlings, as well as a D3baseball.com All-Region selection.

Meirzwa led the Landmark with eight wins for the 2017 season. He struck out 90 batters this year which ranked him 11th nationally in K's per nine innings and first in the Landmark. He was second in the league with a 2.63 ERA over 65 innings pitched and was an All-Landmark First Team honoree.
