WASHINGTON — The Catholic University of America baseball senior first baseman Brennan Cotter was recognized by the Landmark Conference on Monday afternoon as the league's Athlete of the Week.
Cotter has led the Cardinals to a perfect 11-0 record after winning five-straight games last week in Myrtle Beach, S.C., as part of its annual Spring Break trip.
The Oakland, N.J., native had opened the week with two hits in each of his first four games, capped by a two home run performance against Mt. Aloysius. He followed his four-RBI game with a repeat of the feat the next day as the Cardinals downed Wilkes, 15-5.
For the week, he hit .429 with four extra-base hits, five runs, two walks and 12 RBI.
It is the second-straight week that Catholic boasts a player of the week and the third accolade for Cotter after earning the distinction twice last season.
The Cards return to the diamond this Wednesday for a midweek tilt at Salisbury. First pitch is slated for 3:30 p.m.
