Catholic Baseball Earns First-Ever National Ranking

WASHINGTON — The Catholic University of America baseball team has sprinted out to a perfect 11-0 record and the pundits are beginning to take note. The Cardinals have been selected No. 19 in the country in the latest / National College Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Top-25 Poll.

Catholic had been receiving votes in the national rankings earlier this year and had previously appeared in the poll during its landmark Championship season in 2015 but this marks the first time in program history that the Cards have cracked the NCAA Division III Top-25.

The Cardinals are one of five undefeated teams in the poll and the only one to play more than four games this season. No. 2 UW-Whitewater (0-0), No. 4 North Central (Ill.) (2-0), No. 6 Wooster (1-0) and No. 22 St. Scholastica (3-0) round out the unbeatens.

Catholic is coming off a perfect 5-0 trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., during Spring Break and is scheduled to play at Salisbury, which is receiving votes in the poll, tomorrow at 3:30 p.m., before starting Landmark play at Moravian this weekend.
