Lewis, Dean Named Landmark Player, Pitcher of the Week

TOWSON, Md. - On Monday, Catholic University baseball senior Bailey Lewis was named Landmark Conference Player of the Week while junior Ross Dean was named Landmark Conference Pitcher of the Week.

The Cardinals (0-2) opened the season against Cabrini Friday night at the Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy. Lewis posted two multi-hit games, totaling two hits in each game as he went 2-for-3 with a walk. He had four of Catholic's 11 hits on the day, getting on base in six of his eight plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Dean got the start in Catholic's second game of the season, striking out nine of the 18 batters he faced while allowing just two hits over 4.0 innings of work.

Catholic is supposed to travel to St. Mary's (Md.) on Wednesday for a nine-inning, nonconference contest at 2:30 p.m., but weather may affect where it gets played or not. However, no decision has been made at this time.

The Cards return home for a three-game series this Saturday and Sunday against New Paltz.
