WASHINGTON - Senior Terence O'Rourke (San Diego, Calif./La Jolla) was 1-for-3 with a big three-run double and junior Adam Weiss (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Farmingdale) won his sixth game of the season as Catholic powered past Wesley, 7-3, in a non-league matchup at Robert J. Talbot Field on a blustery Wednesday afternoon.

Down 1-0 in the bottom of the first, O'Rourke came to the plate with the bases full and hit a long drive to the gap in right. Three runners scored putting CUA back on top 3-1. Two batters later after a Bernard Dennis (Arlington, Va./Bishop O'Connell) single, the Cardinals use the double steal to perfection as O'Rourke scored from third.

Catholic added two runs in the sixth on a Mike Pomfret (East Hampton, Conn./Xavier) RBI single and a John Schmidt (Silver Spring, Md./Blake) RBI triple. Daniel Conway (New Hyde Park, N.Y./Chaminade) chipped in a pinch-hit bases-loaded sac fly in the eighth to score Brian Pietryka (Columbia, Md./Hammond). Pietryka was 2-for-4 with two runs scored while Dennis was 3-for-5 with a run scored.

Weiss raised his record to 6-1 on the year going seven innings, giving up just two runs, two walks, while fanning five. Eric Cortina (East Northport, N.Y./St. Anthony's) pitched the final two innings to earn the save.

Matt Adams was 3-for-4 with an RBI and teammate Mike Rausch was2-for-4 with three runs scored for Wesley (5-9-1).

The Cardinals (15-8-1) return to action tomorrow before the Easter break with a non-conference doubleheader at Talbot Field with Felician College starting at noon.
