Adam Weiss moved to 7-1 with the win.

WASHINGTON - Sophomore Daniel Conway (New Hyde Park, N.Y./Chaminade) went 3-for-3 with two doubles and three runs scored and junior Adam Weiss (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Farmingdale) earned his seventh win of the season as Catholic defeated crosstown foe Georgetown, 8-3, in a non-league contest at Robert J. Talbot Field Tuesday afternoon.

Weiss went six innings, allowing seven hits, two runs, while walking two and striking out six.

Georgetown took a 1-0 lead in the third on an RBI single from James Supple. The Cardinals answered back in the bottom of the inning on a Brian Pietryka (Columbia, Md./Hammond) groundout RBI and a throwing error that allowed Brian DeNicola (Lyndhurst, N.J./Don Bosco) to score from third. Pietryka went 2-for-5 with 2 RBI and a run scored.

A two-run double by senior Terence O'Rourke (San Diego, Calif./La Jolla) and an RBI double by Conway highlighted a three-run fourth for the Cardinals (17-9-1).

Daniel Conway slides into second with a 6th-inning stolen base. He later came around to score Catholic's sixth run.

Brian Pietryka slides home in the bottom of the 8th with the game's final run.

Eric Cortina (East Northport, N.Y./St. Anthony's) struck out four in 2.2 innings, getting a double play to work out of a seventh-inning jam with runners at the corners. He earned his third save.

The Hoyas' Ron Cano was 2-for-4 with a run scored including a solo home run in the sixth.

Patrick Harrigan took the loss for Georgetown (7-26), going 3.1 innings, allowing seven hits, five runs (four earned), while walking one and striking out two.

Catholic resumes action tomorrow as they travel to Baltimore to face Johns Hopkins in a non-league matchup at 3 p.m.
