Cardinals headed to New Jersey for NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional

WASHINGTON – CUA will head to Lakewood, N.J. this week to compete in the Mid-Atlantic Regional of the 2011 NCAA Tournament.  The regional, which will be hosted by Kean University, will take place at FirstEnergy Park, which is home to the Lakewood BlueClaws, the Single-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies.  First up for CUA is a matchup with top-ranked Kean at 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18.

Joining CUA and Kean at the Mid-Atlantic Regional will be Rowan, Alvernia, Misericordia, Messiah, Johns Hopkins, and Randolph-Macon.  There will be four games on Wednesday, beginning at 10 a.m. when Misericordia takes on Messiah.

CUA is making just its second-ever NCAA Tournament trip and first since 1977.  This will be the Cardinals first-ever NCAA Division III Tournament; CUA was a member of Division I in 1977.

The Cardinals have a record of 22-19 this season, which includes a mark of 11-7 within the Landmark Conference.  CUA defeated Scranton, Moravian and Scranton again to claim its third conference championship in the last four years.

Kean enters the NCAA Tournament with an overall record of 36-8, which includes a 14-4 record within the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC).
