CUA baseball to host prospect instructional camp

WASHINGTON - The Catholic University baseball program will host a fall Prospect Instructional Camp on Saturday October 16 through Sunday, October 17, 2010 on-campus at the Catholic University DuFour Athletic Center and Baseball Complex.  The camp is open to all high school student-athletes who are striving to reach their full potential and eventually compete at the college level.

For more details about the camp and to register on-line, please visit the camp website.  The cost of the camp is $220 per participant.

The camp coaching staff and instructors will include the Catholic University coaching staff led by head coach Ross Natoli, who is in his 26th year, head assistant and pitching coach John Nolan, and assistant coaches Matt Ferrari and Jonas Fester.   Varsity players from the 2010-2011 Catholic University Baseball Team will also be on staff to participate as assistant camp instructors and interact with prospects.

The camp goals are to provide a forum for prospective student-athletes to display their athletic and baseball talents to the Catholic University baseball coaching staff.  Instruction will also be provided to improve each player's fundamental skills, increase their understanding and confidence in all phases of the game of baseball, and prepare players to the fullest for their potential college baseball careers.

The two-day format will emphasize pitching, individual defensive position play, hitting fundamentals, base running, strength and agility training, and game experience.

Participants will be tested and evaluated in key skill areas including: arm strength, running speed, hitting, pitching, catching, throwing, fielding and base running ability during position-specific instructional skill development sessions and live game play.

The camp will also include a session on Catholic University academic requirements and expectations, the college recruiting and admissions process, balancing college academics and baseball, and a Catholic University campus tour for players and parents.  A players’ dinner on campus and a Parents & Coaches Baseball Forum will also be included.

For more information, call Catholic University head baseball coach Ross Natoli at (202) 319-6092 or e-mail him at any time.
