WASHINGTON – Catholic University Head Football Coach Dave Dunn and his staff have named its four captains for the 2014 season. Set to lead the team is quarterback T.J. Tutone, offensive lineman Mike Zolfo, defensive back R.J. Allison, and defensive end Billy McClatchy.
Tutone appeared in nine games last season and threw 10 touchdowns for a total 851 yards with a season-best 52-yard throw. Tutone also recorded rushing statistics with a net 190 yards and scoring four touchdowns.
Zolfo was a second year starter, who has consistently been one of the best tackles in the ODAC over those seasons. Zolfo has been as important on the right side of the line as All-American Mike O'shea and helped pave the path for the first 1000-yard running back in the last 13 years at CUA. Along with his athletic contributions, he plays an integral part in the program's community service projects.
Allison appeared in all 10 games during the 2013 campaign. He notched the highest number of solo tackles at 37, the second highest number of total tackles with 48 and assisted on 22 tackles.
McClatchy appeared in five games last season before he was injured and unable to complete the season. In his five games, McClatchy recorded three solo tackles and assisted on two.
The Cardinals will kick-off the season by hosting McDaniel on Friday, September 5, Friday's contest marks the fourth straight season-opener with the Green Terror.
