WASHINGTON — For the second-straight week, The Catholic University of America football senior Patrick Vidal has earned the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Defensive Athlete of the Week award.
Vidal once again keyed a defensive effort for the Cardinals that helped Catholic to a 25-20 upset win over an ODAC favorite in Randolph-Macon.
The Succasunna, N.J., native racked up 11 tackles from the interior and recorded three sacks against the Yellow Jackets. Vidal also had a forced fumble, fumble recovery, a pass breakup along with 3.5 tackles for loss.
His pressure helped the Cardinals total six turnovers with two fumbles, two interceptions and two turnovers on downs as Catholic improved to 2-1 overall.
The Cards close out a three-game homestand and play their first-ever NEWMAC game against MIT this Saturday, September 23, at noon.
