WASHINGTON — The Catholic University of America senior Andrew DiNardo was selected to the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-America Team as announced on Tuesday. DiNardo was recognized as one of the top 50 players in the country as the top punter on the second team.
DiNardo, the nation's leading punter with a 46.5 yards per punt average, racks up his fourth posteason honor this season.
The Wilmington, Del., native played in the DIII National Senior Bowl Game this past Sunday in Daytona, Fla., and was honored as a D3football.com All-Region selection earlier this month. He was also a First Team All-NEWMAC honoree.
DiNardo boomed a long of 65 yards this season and put 16 of his boots inside the 20-yard line. He was also picked as the D3football.com Punter of the Week on September 12.
The AFCA has selected an All-America team since 1945 and currently selects teams in all five of its divisions. What makes these teams so special is that they are the only ones chosen exclusively by the men who know the players the best — the coaches themselves.
