Football Ends Season with 30-13 Loss to Bridgewater


The CUA football team fell today to Bridgewater College 30-13 as Greg Cordivari threw for 222 yards and one touchdown.

Rich Barry led the ground attack with 55 yards on 16 carries, but the CUA offensive attack relied on 18 completions for 222 yards, spread among seven receivers.  Cordivari's main target was Shayne Dickinson who made five catches for 31 yards, while Spencer Robinson made three grabs for 69 yards.

Thomas Tate led the way for Bridgewater with 152 yards on the ground while Brad Jones added 112 more on the ground for the hosts.

The Eagles got on the board first with a 43-yard field goal in the first quarter. CUA answered with a 6-play, 70-yard drive that was capped by a 1-yard Rich Barry touchdown that gave CUA a 7-3 lead.

Bridgewater immediately followed with a touchdown drive and took a 9-7 lead into the break.

The second half was all Bridgewater as the hosts scored twice including an 81-yard rush by Thomas Tate.

Avatus Stone made the defensive highlight of the day as he returned an interception from the CUA 2-yard line all the way back for a touchdown.  The 98-yard return is a season high for the Cardinals.

CUA finishes the season with a 1-9 record. The Cardinals finished with 1619 yard on the ground as well as 1596 through the air. Rich Barry led the ground game with 840 yards while Dylan Knight led aerial attack with 657 yards and trailed only Barry in rushing yards with 589.
