Kevin Barger is in his ninth season on the CUA coaching staff. Barger now oversees the offensive line and run game for the 2015 season, as announced by head coach Dave Dunn.

After coaching the defensive line for three seasons, Barger moved to the other side of the ball in 2011 to coach the offensive line where he also served as the Cardinals' Special Teams Coordinator.

Barger joined the Cardinals staff from Ursinus College where he worked for four seasons as the defensive line coach, special teams coordinator, and strength and conditioning coach. During that time Barger’s special teams were ranked among the best in Division III, finishing fourth in the nation in kickoff return yardage in 2006, and second in the same category in 2007.

2013 saw the Cardinals come in third in scoring offense, second in total offense, third in rushing offense, and tied for fourth in sacks against. Barger's leadership and knowledge of the sport provided quality guidance for the Cardinals offensive and special teams units.

In 2012, Barger mentored a very young CUA offensive line that paved the way for the nation's fourth-ranked passing attack (328.2 yards per game), with two Cardinals, Michael 'Shea and Kody Jones, receiving All-ODAC recognition. O'Shea also earned All-Region honors after not allowing a sack for the entire season.

Barger's special teams unit ranked third in the ODAC in kickoff return average (20.2), with All-ODAC performer Andrew Ouellette finishing second in the conference in kick return average at nearly 25 yards per return.

Alex King, currently a senior defensive lineman at CUA was named All-Conference in 2010, while in 2009, Barger mentored former lineman Dwight Jones, who amassed 55 tackles on the season.

In 2008 three of Barger’s players were honored with All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference accolades, including Dean Petrone, David Woo and Sean Green. Petrone put together an incredible season, totaling 49.5 tackles, while leading the conference in tackles-for-loss (19.5) and sacks (12.0).  With Petrone leading the way, the Cardinals led the ODAC in team sacks with 32.0.

Prior to Ursinus, Barger worked for three seasons at FCS member Marist College. He coached the outside linebackers from 2001 to 2002 while earning his master’s degree in educational psychology. In three seasons Barger produced one All-American, one Academic All-American, three All-Conference players, and three Academic All-Conference student-athletes.

Barger was a four-year starter and two-time all conference defensive tackle at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York. He received his B.A. in history in 2001 and resides in Arlington, Va.
