Catholic Field Hockey Rolls Past Moravian, 12-0

WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America field hockey team steamrolled past Moravian on Saturday evening, 12-0. Nine different Cardinals scored as they shut out Moravian for their fourth clean sheet of the year.

Junior Rachel Day scored the gamewinner just 4:15 into the game to start the scoring for Catholic. She went on to score twice in the second half for her second hat trick of the season.

Sophomore Graceton Griffith joined Day with a multi-goal performance, notching the Cardinals' third and 11th goals of the game.

Catholic dominated time of possession and outshot Moravian 45-2, allowing just one shot in each half and just one on goal. The Cards also totaled 12 penalty corners to the Greyhounds two, both of which came in the second half.

The Cardinals found the back of the cage five times in the first half with five different players scoring.

The Cards also had six different players score their first goals of the year as Kerri Shallow, Cara Kennedy, Lizzie Ireland, Lane Adams, Kelly Cousoulis and Alexandra DiFlorio each scored.

The Cardinals have midweek matchup at No. 1 Messiah up next on the docket before a home game next Saturday against Drew.
