Glassboro, N.J. — Rookie Grace Olson scored her first career goal on Saturday at Wackar Stadium as The Catholic University of America field hockey team defeated Rowan, 2-0.
Catholic did its damage with in the span of 1:28 seconds. Senior Rachel Day finished a one-timer from senior Lizzie Ireland 23:28 into the first half. Less than 90 seconds later Olso was there for the insurance score as she took a centering pass from senior Day and tipped it in for the score.
The defense did the rest as senior goalkeeper Sophia Hamilton earned her first shutout of the year. She faced seven Rowan shots and made four saves. Senior back Kelly Cousoulis also chipped in with a defensive save in a full 70-minute effort.
Catholic outshot Rowan, 9-7, while the Profs took seven penalty corner to the Cardinals' six.
Olson was one of six different Cardinals to fire off shots as every one of them went on goal.
Winners of two-straight games, Catholic will look to ride the momentum into a road game at Christopher Newport on Wednesday, September 13 at 5 p.m.
