WASHINGTON — Senior goalkeeper Sophia Hamilton of The Catholic University of America field hockey team was recognized by Longstreth and the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) as one of the top players in the country this past week.
Hamilton was one eight student-athletes honored on the weekly awards list and was tabbed an honorable mention selection.
The Ellicott City, Md., native led Catholic to a perfect 2-0 record last week as the Cardinals are now on a four-game win streak.
Hamilton made a career-high 15 saves in a nationally-ranked upset win against No. 18 Christopher Newport, 2-1.
She went a perfect 2-0 on the week as she also earned the victory against Misericordia. She posted a .882 save percentage over the two-game span.
Catholic hosts the No. 1 team in the nation on tonight at Cardinal Stadium as the Cards host Messiah at 7 p.m.
