No. 11 Cardinals Roll Past Ursinus, 6-2

WASHINGTON — The Catholic University of America field hockey team made it eight-straight wins on Wednesday night inside Cardinal stadium as they rolled past Ursinus, 6-2.

Five different Cards scored as senior Marisa Martinelli assisted on half of No. 11 nationally-ranked Catholic's goals.

Sophomore Alexa Guittari scored the first two goals of the game for Catholic and netted her first career gamewinner as she finished the feed from classmate Katie Anderson in the 21st minute.

Catholic took a 2-1 lead into the second half and got the scoring started in the second as senior Kerri Shallow found the back of the cage in the 40th minute.

Ursinus was able to close within one 10 minutes later but Catholic was able to stymie the Bears' offense when it needed to most.

The Cardinals then went on to rattle off three-straight goals as Martinelli set up all three of them to the sticks of senior Rachel Baca, junior Molly Crowley and junior Lane Adams, respectively.

Catholic outshot Ursinus, 16-5, overall and 12-3 in on-goal attempts.

The Cards wrap nonconference play with a 7-2 record and now play at Drew this Saturday at 1 p.m., before the final home game on Saturday, October 28, at 5:30 p.m., against Scranton on senior day.
