WASHINGTON, D.C.- The Catholic University field hockey team defeated Drew 7-0 in Landmark Conference play on Saturday.
Sophomore Meghan Shallow totaled two goals, while junior Katie Anderson, freshman Julia Scanlon, freshman Grace Jung, freshman Katie Murphy, and sophomore Jess Waite all added one for the Cardinals. Sophomore Anna Baffone recorded two assists, while junior Alexandra DiFlorio, sophomore Grace Olson and freshman Hannah Bateman all tallied one more.
The Cardinals got onto the board just 12 minutes into the game when Anderson scored her first goal of the season off of a pass from Baffone. Shallow scored the second goal for the Cardinals also assisted by Baffone. Catholic responded quickly with another goal two minutes later from Murphy, assisted by DiFlorio. Jung added the last goal of the half for the Cardinals assisted by Olson to take a 4-0 lead.
Shallow scored her second goal of the game for the Cardinals unassisted 14 minutes into the second half. Waite and Scanlon then scored their first goals of the season to secure the 7-0 win for the Cards.
Catholic's defense had an impressive performance only allowing one shot. Junior Nicole Tsiaras recorded a defensive save for the Cardinals.
Catholic returns to the field on Wednesday, October 3 at Salisbury University for a 6 p.m. game.
