Cardinals blank Christopher Newport for fifth consecutive win Sept. 29, 2001

WASHINGTON - Catholic won its fifth game in a row, defeating Christopher Newport on Saturday, 7-0, in a non-league contest. Senior Andi Snyder (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Sacred Heart) notched three goals and an assist and junior Stephanie Roselle (Tinton Falls, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) added two goals of her own as the Cardinals have scored 19 goals in their last five games. Junior Kim Nolen (Blue Bell, Pa./Merion Mercy) also added a goal and an assist.

Snyder's first goal of the day came at 25:14 of the first half with an assist sophomore Tricia Hines (Churchville, Pa./Gwynedd Mercy). Snyder would tally again nearly seven minutes later with another assist by Hines. That opened the floodgates for Catholic as the Cardinals would add four more scores in a span of three minutes to break the game open.

After two goalie changes, CNU tried to counter the offense but they were turned away by the combo of goalies Katie Iannacone (Havertown, Pa./Villa Maria) and Erin Swift (Middletown, N.J./Red Bank Catholic). The two combined to make nine saves.

Snyder would complete the hat trick in the second half as she scored her team-leading eighth goal on an unassisted tally at 22:27.

Catholic returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 2, hosting Franklin and Marshall in a non-league contest at 5 p.m.
