McGlynn, Engstrom, Kaye, honored by conference

WASHINGTON --- Senior Kathleen McGlynn (Tallahassee, Fla./Leon) has been named the Capital Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week while sophomores Christy Engstrom (Phoenixville, Pa./Spring-Ford) and Laura Kaye (Annandale, Va./Bishop Ireton) were named to the Honorable Mention List for September 1-7.

The Catholic Volleyball Team is off to a stellar start as they have won eight matches in a row including this past weekend's first-place finish at the Buttermaker Tournament hosted by Muhlenberg College. In four matches at the tournament, McGlynn had 26 kills, 14 blocks, and 20 digs and for her outstanding play, she was named to the all-tournament team.

On the season, McGlynn leads the conference and the team in hitting percentage (.382) and is second in blocks with 1.07 blocks per game.

Engstrom had a goal and an assist to help the field hockey team open the season with a 4-1 win over Lynchburg this past Saturday.

Kaye totaled two goals and two assists in two games last week to help jumpstart the women's soccer team to a 1-1 overall record.
