SALISBURY, Md. (Nov. 5, 2005) -- Salisbury University scored its last goal with no time remaining as the Sea Gulls defeated the Cardinals 3-1 to capture the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament championship.

It was the first time in program history that the Cardinals made the finals, but the 11-year title holders wouldn't relax their grip. CUA (10-6, 3-2) tied the game at 1-1 with 19:42 left when junior forward Jayme Dinsmore scored an unassisted goal. In a scene reminiscent of the regular season match up between the two schools, the Sea Gulls scored two goals in the final six minutes to seal the victory. CUA was limited to four shots in the game. Keeper Irene Jordan had eight saves for the Cardinals while Dinsmore and midfielders Michele Repass, Ro Dixon and Jamie Punyko contributed shots.

After a close game with the #2 team in the nation, the Cardinals now await word on either an NCAA or ECAC postseason bid on Monday, Nov. 7.
