Natoli To Host CUA Baseball Prospect Camps

Natoli To Host CUA Baseball Prospect Camps

WASHINGTON – Catholic University head baseball coach Ross Natoli and his coaching staff will host two prospect camps this summer and fall.  The first session is a single-day camp held on Sunday, Aug. 25, the second session is a two-day Saturday and Sunday event on Oct. 19 and 20; both camps will be conducted at the Robert J. Talbot Baseball Field and the DuFour Athletic Center at CUA.

The prospect camps are designed for highly skilled high school student-athletes in grades 9-12, who are striving to reach their full potential with aspirations to compete at the collegiate level.

Our camp goals are to provide an environment for prospective student-athletes to display their athletic talents to the CUA coaching staff, while the staff provides instruction to improve each student-athlete’s fundamental skills.  The camps are formatted to emphasize the importance of pitching, individual defensive position play, the fundamentals of hitting, base running, strength and agility training, and game competition.

The participating student-athletes will be tested and evaluated in key skill areas:

  • Arm Strength
  • Running Speed
  • Hitting
  • Pitching
  • Catching
  • Throwing
  • Fielding and Base Running

All these skills will be evaluated through position-specific instructions and live-game simulations.

Along with skill evaluation and development, participants will engage in sessions covering the academic pieces of Catholic University of America, the CUA baseball program, and its academic requirements and expectations, the college recruiting and admissions process, balancing college academics and baseball, and a campus tour for the participating student-athletes and their parents will be included.

All participating student-athletes will have the opportunity to meet, learn and be evaluated by the current CUA coaching staff, which is comprised of head baseball coach Ross Natoli, who is in his 29th season, associate head coach Bobby Picardo, who is a CUA baseball alum, pitching coach Adam Spadafora, and assistant coaches Bernie Dennis and Tim Mierzwa, who are also CUA baseball alums.  Members of the 2013-14 CUA baseball team will be on hand to assist with the camp and interact with prospects.
