Catholic Hosts Inaugural Field Day for Brookland

Division III Week is a positive opportunity for individuals associated with Division III to observe and celebrate the impact of athletics and of student-athletes on the campus and surrounding community. The 2014 Division III Week begins Monday, April 7 and runs through Sunday, April 13. The Student-Athlete Advisory Committees (SAAC) at Landmark Conference member institutions have been planning events around Division III Week to celebrate on their own campuses.

WASHINGTON – The Catholic SAAC hosted its inaugural Field Day for the families in Brookland and the CUA community. Brookland is a neighborhood in the northeast quadrant of Washington, D.C. where Catholic is located.

Hundreds attended the event on Sunday afternoon at Catholic’s DuFour Center. Student-athletes from nearly every sport volunteered at the event with nine stations coordinated by the teams. The stations included a uniform relay race, tennis cone catch, football target toss, and face painting among others. SAAC gave out prizes to each participant and offered healthy snacks.

After months of planning, SAAC’s hard work paid off with a successful event for so many local children.

“It was so exciting to have a chance to engage with the Brookland community,” Allison Stevens, Catholic field hockey player said. “We hope this was the first of many CUA Field Days.”
