Landmark Conference champs ranked 12th in final D3Hoops poll

WASHINGTON – released its final Top 25 poll of the 2012-13 season on Monday, and CUA was ranked 12th. The Cardinals won their first Landmark Conference championship this season and played in their first NCAA Tournament since 2007. CUA's 25 wins were its most since the 2001-02 season.

After downing Juniata on February 23 thanks to Shawn Holmes' last-second jumper to claim the Landmark Conference title, CUA advanced to the NCAA Tournament, where the Cardinals defeated Staten Island in the 1st Round.

CUA went a perfect 15-0 inside the DuFour Center, and the Cards' 12 Landmark victories were the most in school history.

Individually, Chris Kearney was named an All-American by three outlets, including First Team honors from the NABC.

The first player in Landmark Conference history to be named the Player and Defensive Player of the Year in the same season, Kearney was also named the Mid-Atlantic Player of the Year, as well as an All-Region selection, ECAC All-Star and First Team All-Conference selection.

Holmes joined Kearney on the All-Landmark Conference First Team, while sophomore Steve Limberiou earned Second Team honors.

Head Coach Steve Howes, who was a finalist for the Glenn Robinson Coach of the Year Award (top coach in Division III), earned Mid-Atlantic Coach of the Year honors, as well as Landmark Conference Coaching Staff of the Year accolades.

CUA finished the season ranked 1st in the country in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.68), 2nd in fewest turnovers per game (9.3), 8th in scoring margin (13.2), 14th in scoring defense (58.7) and 17th in field goal percentage defense (38.8).
