No. 8 Cardinals sit atop initial NCAA regional rankings

WASHINGTON – On a day when No. 8 CUA picked up a 74-53 road win at Susquehanna, the Cardinals also learned they are ranked first overall in the initial NCAA regional rankings.  At 20-1 overall, CUA sits atop the Mid-Atlantic Region, which ranks the top nine schools.  The Cardinals have won eight straight games and sit alone in first place in the Landmark Conference at 10-1.

CUA has picked up 17 of its 20 wins within the region, helping the Cards to lead a strong group of ranked teams.  CUA has beaten St. Mary's and Scranton, two teams currently ranked in the Mid-Atlantic.

Regional ranking is one of the criteria used for selection and seeding purposes for the NCAA Tournament.  For more information on the regional rankings, click here.

The Cardinals moved back into the top 10 of the Top 25 poll on Monday after running their record to 11-0 at home with two more wins last week.

CUA is currently in the middle of a three-game road trip.

The No. 8 Cardinals seek their first win in Scranton since 2006 when CUA heads to Pennsylvania on Saturday evening.  Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
