Men’s Basketball Ranked No. 4 in Sporting News’ Top-25

WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America men's basketball team is among the top programs in the country as the Cardinals were selected No. 4-nationally in Sporting News' and DIII News preseason top-25 polls.

Catholic went 23-6 last season and has high expectations for the 2015-16 campaign as it returns all five starters from last year's NCAA Tournament team.

Senior guard Bryson Fonville was tabbed as a Preseason Second Team All-American by Sporting News as well a Top-24 Preseason All-American by DIII News.

Fonville earned National Basketball Coaches Association (NABC), DIII News and All-America honors last season after averaging 16.7 points per game and 5.4 assists per game. Fonville was also the Landmark Conference Player of the Year.

Last season's leading scorer and Landmark Rookie of the Year, Jay Howard, also garnered preseason attention, being tabbed by DIII News as an Honorable Mention All-America selection.

Howard led the Cardinals with 17.0 ppg last season and added 6.0 rebounds per game in his first season on campus.

Head coach Steve Howes and the Cards are just over a month from the start of the season. Check back on for the official release of CUA's 2015-16 schedule.
