Men’s Basketball Falls at Juniata, 79-67

Huntingdon, Pa. -  The Catholic University of America men's basketball team ran into a hot-shooting Juniata team on Wednesday night, falling on the road, 79-67. Sophomore Jay Howard nearly double-doubled with 22 points and nine rebounds but the Eagles shot nearly 50 percent from the field to earn the win.

CUA led by three at the half, 40-37, but a strong second stanza for Juniata clinched the victory.

In addition to outshooting the Cardinals from the field, the Eagles earned a big advantage at the charity stripe. Juniata was near perfect, knocking down 20-of-21 attempts, while Catholic could only convert on 12-of-18 attempts from the free throw line.

Senior Bryson Fonville was the game's second-leading scorer with 16 points, adding four assists.

Even though both leading point-scorers came from Catholic, Juniata boasted four players in double-figures and seven with eight points or more.

Fonville (6-of-13) and Howard (9-of-13) combined for nearly 60 percent of CUA's offense and shot a combined 58 percent from the field, scoring all but nine Catholic baskets.

The Cardinals are scheduled to host Merchant Marine Academy this Saturday in another Landmark battle. With blizzard conditions expected in the Mid-Atlantic, please check back on for any potential time changes.
