Men’s Basketball Sprints Past Goucher, 81-61

WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America men's basketball team improved to a perfect 5-0 Landmark Conference record on Wednesday night as the Cardinals sprinted to an 81-61 victory at Goucher. 

The Cards scored the first basket of the game and built a 10-point lead five minutes in as they led from wire-to-wire. Catholic shot 52-percent from the field and 46-perecent from deep as they forced the Gophers into 24 turnovers with season-high 17 steals.

Rookie big man Riley Hayes had a career night with 17 points on 5-of-8 shooting, seven free throws, two assists and a block. He also chipped in six rebounds.

Senior guard Louis Khouri matched Hayes' contest-best point total and set game-highs seven rebounds and four 3-pointers.

Every Cardinal starter was in double figure scoring as Andre Mitchell, Brandon Easton and Jay Howard had 12, 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Catholic took a 13-point lead into the break and led by as many as 29 as they improve to 13-3 overall.

The Cardinals bring its undefeated league record into a tough road test on Saturday at Scranton.
