WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America men's basketball team was honored with four of the 10 selections on the Landmark Conference All-Decade Team, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Jason Banzhaf '11, Chris Kearney '13, Bryson Fonville '16 and Jay Howard were all recognized as the best players over the 10-year history of the Landmark in a vote from the conference's head coaches.
Banzhaf was a member of the Catholic University men's basketball team from 2008-2011. He was named to the All-Landmark First Team in 2009, 2010, and 2011, and was selected to the Second Team in 2008.
He was two-time Academic Honor Roll selection and was named to the Academic Team in 2009. He finished his career with 1,822 points, 876 rebounds, and 128 assists.
Kearney played from 2010-2013 and was selected to the all-conference first team in 2013 and was voted Player of the Year that same season. Kearney was also a member of the 2013 Landmark Championship team.
A three-time Academic Honor Roll selection, Kearney was named the Senior Scholar Athlete in 2013. He finished with 1,160 points, 660 rebounds, 115 assists, and 210 blocks.
Fonville graduated this past season after helping the Cards to the 2016 Landmark Conference Championship as he scored 33 points in the title game. He was named to the All-Landmark First Team in 2014, 2015, 2016.
Fonville was also voted the 2015 Player of the Year. He finished his career with 1,649 points, 427 rebounds, 613 assists and 164 steals. He currently plays for the Dallas Mavericks' NBDL affiliate, the Texas Legends.
Howard is the only active member on the men's basketball all-decade team and only junior to be recognized on any Landmark All-Decade Team, thus far. He was named to the Landmark All-Conference First Team twice (2015, 2016) and helped the Cardinals to the Landmark championship in 2016.
Howard boasts with 1,450 points, 532 rebounds, 92 steals, and 53 blocks in just under three seasons of action.
