Catholic wins inaugural Classic

WASHINGTON -- Catholic University went on a 17-5 run midway through the first half and got double figures from four players to defeat Hobart 82-57 in the championship game of the inaugural Classic on Saturday, Dec. 30, at Catholic University's DuFour Center.

Catholic (7-2), ranked No. 10 in Division III, was led by tournament most valuable player, sophomore forward Matt Hilleary, who scored 19 points on 9-for-12 shooting from the floor. Hilleary poured in seven of his points during Catholic's run to blow the game open and blocked three shots for the game while grabbing a team-high seven rebounds. Senior guard Pat Maloney had a career-high 11 assists.

Hobart (3-2), which shot 30.5% from the floor and turned the ball over 20 times compared with six for Catholic, was led by sophomore forward Davidek Herron's 11 points and game-high 10 rebounds. Classic All-Tournament Team
