WASHINGTON - Solid defensive play led Catholic to its seventh consecutive win as the Cardinals defeated Lebanon Valley 76-59 in the seventh annual Coaches vs. Cancer Classic. Four Cardinals scored in double figures with junior Kevin Wise (Newtown, Pa./Notre Dame [N.J.]) netting a game-high 18 points. Darren Pugh led the Dutchmen with 17 points and 17 rebounds.

Lebanon Valley (6-3) woke up in the second half by starting the period on a 7-0 run to pull within three points. But that would be as close as the Dutchmen would get. The junior finished with 17 points while teammates Will Morely (Olney, Md./Good Counsel) scored 13 points and junior Matt Hilleary (Manassas, Va./Seton School) chipped in 15 points. Hilleary also grabbed eight rebounds with three steals and three blocks.

Evan Harlor contributed 11 points, six rebounds, and four assists for Lebanon Valley.

The proceeds of today's game went towards the American Cancer Society for its effort in cancer-fighting research. A grand total of $750 went towards that cause. The Cardinals are now 7-0 in the Coaches vs. Cancer benefit games.
