ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - Catholic reached the century mark for the second time this season as the Cardinals ended the regular season with a 102-76 thumping of St. Mary's (Md.) Saturday afternoon in a CAC tilt.

Junior Matt Hilleary (right) led the charge by scoring 25 points and hauling in 13 rebounds for his ninth double double of the season. Brandon Jones, the CAC's leading scorer, didn't disappoint, finishing with 26 points to lead St. Mary's (5-20, 2-12 CAC).

The Cardinals (22-2, 13-1 CAC) never trailed in the game as CUA scored the first six points of the game. Hilleary gave Catholic a 10-point lead with his jumper by the baseline to make it 16-6. Catholic kept that lead until the Seahawks cut it to two on two Jeffery Turner free throws with 8:54 in the half. CUA would outscore St. Mary's 25-12 to end the half with the score 55-42.

In the second half, Catholic took advantage of Seahawk missed shots and turnovers to increase their lead by as much as 34 points.

Junior Kevin Wise recorded his first double-double of the season, netting 16 points and dishing out 10 assists. Craig Avallone (17 points) and Will Morley (16 points) also finished in double figures. Morley added nine rebounds while Avallone and Wise hit four 3-pointers apiece.

CUA held a 45-40 rebound advantage while shooting 47.9% for the game. The Cardinals also connected for nine treys while the Seahawks hit five, all in the first half.

Having clinched the No.1 seed in next week's conference tournament, the same two teams will square off in first round action on Tuesday, Feb. 19, at the DuFour Center. Time is tentatively scheduled for 8 p.m.
