Catholic 90, Western Maryland 55

WESTMINSTER, Md. - Junior Matt Hilleary scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds - both game highs - to lead No. 11 Catholic University to a 90-55 pounding of Western Maryland at Gill Center on Saturday.

Junior Kevin Wise added 16 points and freshman Bobby Henning delivered a career-high 10 assists for the Cardinals, who improved to 6-1. CUA posted season highs in field goal percentage (50.7, 34 of 67) and 3-point percentage (54.2, 13 of 24).

Senior Jack Kowalik scored 15 points and classmate Teron Powell had 10 points and seven rebounds for the Green Terror (3-4).

Sophomore Blair Mills contributed 13 points for the Cardinals, who led 43-27 at halftime. Junior Craig Avallone had 15 points and five rebounds, and sophomore Will Morley scored 10 points.

Hilleary hit eight of 12 shots and four of five free throws and blocked three shots. Sophomore backup point guard Adam Dickman made all three of his shots, including two 3s, and had four assists and three rebounds. He and Henning combined for 14 assists and just two turnovers, while holding Western Maryland's leading scorer, junior Desmond Esteves (11.7 ppg), to three points.

CUA, which has won 22 of its last 23 games, returns to action against Lebanon Valley on Dec. 15th at 4 p.m. All proceeds will benefit Coaches vs. Cancer.
