Mills awarded CAC Athlete of the Week honors

WASHINGTON --- Senior Blair Mills (Hebron, Md./Wicomico) has been named the Capital Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week in men's basketball for February 23-29.

The 6-5 forward helped lead the Cardinals to their third CAC Championship in the last four years. Mills began the week with 16 points, seven rebounds, two blocks and two assists, in the first-round win over Salisbury on Tuesday night. Against Goucher in the semifinals, Mills scored 13 points and added five boards. He then capped off the week registering 17 points, six caroms, two blocks and was 13-of-14 from the free-throw line to help defeat Mary Washington for the CAC Tournament Championship and send the Cardinals to its seventh straight NCAA Tournament.

This season, Mills is averaging 12.2 points and 5.3 rebounds a game. His 91.5% at the free-throw line (97-for-106) leads the CAC and has him ranked in the top 10 nationally.

The Cardinals (23-5) host SUNY-Old Westbury this Thursday, March 4th at 7 p.m. in a first-round NCAA Tournament game at the DuFour Center.
