WASHINGTON- The Catholic University of America men's basketball team gave a up a 10-point lead at halftime, falling to Haverford College 70-57 Tuesday evening.

Jason Banzhaf (Livingston, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) scored a team-high 13 points for Catholic (4-1). The Cardinals used a balanced offensive attack in the contest, as 10 of 12 players who saw time scored at least one bucket.

The Fords (2-1) held an eight-point lead through the first nine minutes. CUA went on a 26-9 run over the final 10:21 of the half that gave them a 35-25 advantage heading into the break. Matt Fazzini (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga), Brian Baker (Colts Neck, N.J./Colts Neck) and Banzhaf all knocked down threes during the run. Impressively, the Cardinals' defense was able to hold HC scoreless for over five minutes.

Baker hit another three to start the half, but the Fords began an uphill battle on the next possession with a 6-0 run that brought them within seven points. The Cardinals kept Haverford at bay for the next three-and-a-half minutes, but HC hit a three with under 15 minutes to play that brought the Fords to within two, 40-38.

The score remained close until HC caught fire with less than nine minutes remaining and built their lead to nine. Catholic managed to get as close as two right before the four minute mark, but Haverford iced the lead by making 7-of-8 free throws in the final three minutes.

CUA will travel to Carnegie Mellon for a 1 p.m., contest against York College (N.Y.) on November 29th.
