Damien Williams has in his three seasons at Catholic University contributed to two NCAA Tournament teams (2013, 2015), a league Rookie of the Year and an All-American. His primary responsibilities are coaching the CUA big men and serving as the Cardinals’ recruiting coordinator.

In 2012-13, Williams helped CUA post a 25-4 record, win the Landmark Conference regular-season and tournament championships and earn a first-round NCAA playoff victory. He was a member of the league’s Coaching Staff of the Year and played a key role in the development of center Chris Kearney, a first-team All-American.

Williams has contributed to the blossoming of Corey Stanford, the Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year in 2013-14 and one of the league’s top post players. When Austin Calling became an unexpected starter in the second game of the season last year, Williams helped him develop into the team’s third-leading rebounder (4.9 rpg) and most accurate field goal shooter (.642).

Williams joined the Cardinals after serving five seasons (2007-12) as an assistant boys basketball coach and ninth-grade head coach at Sewickley (Pa.) Academy, where he also taught physical education and was a senior school advisor. He helped the Panthers capture three sectional championships (2008, ’09, ’10), two Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League titles (2009, ’10), and the 2010 Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association state championship.

Williams was an assistant cross country coach at Sewickley from 2007-12 and an assistant track and field coach from 2009-12. He also directed the basketball program at World Sports Camp in Easthampton, Mass., three summers, and for two years (2008,’09) coached the Basketball Stars of America AAU middle school team in Pittsburgh.

At Thiel College in Greenville, Pa., from 2002-06, Williams played basketball four years and was a starter his final two. The Tomcats advanced to the 2003 Presidents’ Athletic Conference Tournament championship under PAC Coach of the Year Mike Snell. Williams, as a senior captain, was named league Player of the Week once and was chosen honorable mention All-PAC.

Williams was a two-year starting small forward in his three seasons at Pittsburgh’s Woodland Hills High School. The Wolverines won the Quad A Section IV title his sophomore year (2000).

Williams graduated from Thiel College in 2006 with a degree in management information systems. He added a master of science in instructional leadership with a concentration in sports management from Robert Morris University in 2010. He works at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Day School in Washington as an assistant athletic director, physical education teacher and boys and girls basketball coordinator.

Damien Keith Williams was born in Pittsburgh in 1984 and lives in Bethesda, Md. His wife, Angie, is an assistant coach with the CUA women’s basketball team and assistant athletic director/recruiting coordinator.
