McCarthy Wins Eastern Invitational, Cardinals Finish Second

ST. DAVID'S, Pa. - In the team's final action of the fall season, freshman Jack McCarthy won the individual trophy in the Eastern Fall Invitational and the Catholic University men's golf team took second out of five competing teams on Monday afternoon. 

McCarthy shot a 79 (+9) on a challenging windy day on the St. David's Golf Course, good for the top spot out of 23 golfers. Shooting his lowest score of the year, the Landenburg, Pa., native won the first individual trophy for the team this season. He carded a front-nine 37 score, a run that included six-straight pars.

The Cards finished second with an overall score of 337 (+57) to finish the fall season on a strong note. Eastern won the overall invitational with a 323 score. 

Fellow freshman Alex Freedman followed close behind in a busy leaderboard with a score of 81, finishing tied for fourth overall. Zach Mueller finished tied for 11th with an 87 (+17). 

Juniors Cavan Hagerty and Anthony Ricci carded a 90 and 108 scores respectively to round out the Cardinals golfers.
