USILA names Doyle a Scholar All-American

WASHINGTON – Ryan Doyle has been named a Scholar All-American by the USILA, it was recently announced.  A two-time captain, Doyle recently graduated from CUA with a degree in history.  Doyle is the first men’s lacrosse Academic All-American at CUA since Timothy Lambert received the honor in 2000.

Doyle earned First Team All-Landmark Conference honors for his performance in 2012.  The senior led CUA with 17 caused turnovers and ranked second on the squad with 39 ground balls.  Doyle also scored one goal this season, which came in a key conference win over Susquehanna on April 21.

Doyle picked up a season-high seven ground balls in two games and caused a season-high four turnovers in two games as well.  He helped the CUA defense hold six opponents to single digit goals, including a low of two in a win over Merchant Marine Academy.

Doyle’s All-Landmark Conference selection was his second straight, after he earned Second Team accolades a season ago.

In order to receive Scholar All-America honors from the USILA, a student-athlete must be a senior with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 and have behaved on and off the field in a manner that has brought credit to himself, his institution and to collegiate lacrosse.
