WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America men's lacrosse team was edged in the Landmark Conference Championship game at Elizabethtown, 12-7, on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals now stand at 14-3 overall and await the NCAA Selection Show tomorrow.
Catholic trailed 8-2 with just 3:16 to play in the first half but rallied to make a 9-7 game in the final minute of the third quarter. Elizabethtown scored the next three goals of the game to close it out.
Senior Tim Keith got the rally started for the Cards with his first goal of the game at 2:25 in the second. He went on to score again at the start of the third to continue the Catholic push as the Cardinals went on a 5-1 run to make it a two-score game.
The Blue Jays scored with just 38 seconds left in the third and scored twice more in the fourth while holding Catholic off the scoreboard in the final stanza.
Etown won the goundball battle, 40-26.
