Cardinals Back in USILA National Poll

WASHINGTON — The Catholic University of America men's lacrosse team is once again being recognized by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) in its National Coaches Poll. For just the second season ever, the first coming last year, the Cardinals are receiving votes in the top-20 rankings.

Catholic opened the season with a neutral site victory over 2017 NCAA-qualifier Sewanee, 13-9, in Charlottesville, Va.

Freshman Patrick Silverman had an impressive debut with eight points on five goals and three assists while All-American candidate Bennett Bradley netted a hat trick and added an assist.

The defense was also strong as sophomore goalie Alex Mulyk stopped 10 shots for the win.

The Cardinals play their home-opener this Saturday at 1 p.m., against Randolph-Macon.

Catholic also has two games on its schedule against teams also receiving votes in the USILA poll. The Cards play at Hampden-Sydney on Wednesday, February 21, and host Montclair St. on Saturday, April 14.
