Clearwater, Fla. – The Catholic University of America men's lacrosse team played a neutral-site Spring Break game on Wednesday night against Clark and were topped, 12-7.
After a back-and-forth first half, Clark used a strong second stanza, including a 3-0 third quarter to seal the win.
Sophomore Mark Tocchio scored the first goal of the game, but Clark scored with six seconds left to make it a tie game after one.
The Cougars went on to score two-straight to open the second, but senior Bennett Bradley got one back to end the run. Clark again had back-to-back scores in just over a minute, but Tocchio found senior Daniel Cannon with under a minute to play in the first to make it 5-3.
Clark found its groove in the third and opened the fourth period with a goal to make it a 9-3 lead.
Senior Liam Clancy then scored two-straight for Catholic to cut it to a four-goal lead, but Catholic could get no closer.
Clancy, Bradley and Cannon all finished with two-goal games while Tocchio (goal, assist) and freshman Patrick Silverman (two assists) joined them with multi-point games.
Catholic returns to action this Saturday at home when the Cardinals take on Mary Washington at 3 p.m.
