1999 Season

The men's lacrosse team enters its second season at the varsity level in Division III after a productive inaugural season. Head Coach Brooks Singer returns to coach this season and believes the team's 18 returning players will provide the necessary foundation the team will need for success this season. For the 1998-99 season, the team has more than 25 players on its current roster. The team is primarily young, consisting of at least 12 incoming freshmen, seven sophomores and five juniors. Coach Singer continues to look to establish a lacrosse program for Catholic which will have a promising future in both Division III and the CAC.

Attack: Returners on offense include Todd Danner and Jamie Cooke, along with lefty John Abrams. Danner led the team in goals and total points last season. Newcomers Brad King and Mike Norusis each have the ability to make an impact on the offense in their first season with the Cardinals.

Midfield: Dan Moran, along with returners Mike Scovotti, Tim Lambert, Shane McDevitt, Sean Lavine, and Conor Chamberlain all have strong offense capabilities. Keith Ledwith, Jon Loughlin, and Mike Fithian will provide necessary support as defensive Middies. Newcomers Jimmy Nalls, Mike Concannon and Damian Noto each will be welcome additions to the midfield core.

Defense: Returner Nick Martone and Eric MacEwen will lead the Defense along with fellow returner Rob Graziosi. The defense will strengthen with the welcome additions of a strong freshman trio of defensemen: Andrew Avon, Matt Comerford, and Paul Swartz.

Goaltenders: Returning goalie Sean Murphy, who played an important role last season, will lead the Cardinals. Freshman Mike Madonia will be a welcome addition to this CUA core.
