Catholic 14, College Misericordia 4

WASHINGTON - Catholic used three goals each from junior Eric Slagle and sophomore Tom Alexander to power past College Misericordia, 14-4, Sunday afternoon in non-conference action.

Seniors Ryan Welsh (2 goals/3 assists) and Jimmy Nalls (1 goal/4 assists) recorded five points apiece for Catholic (2-1).

The Cardinals scored the first six goals of the game capped off by Slagle's tally with a man-up three minutes before the half.

The Cougars (0-1) got within 7-3 on Brandon Fields' goal with just over 10 minutes in the third quarter with an assist from Matt Carey, but CUA fired off five straight goals to open the lead. Carey led College Misericordia with two goals and an assist.

Sophomore Andrew Couden, junior Matt Monfet, and freshman Kyle Blodgett combined to make 14 saves. Cougar keeper Chris Baruch posted 18 saves.

CUA outshot Misericordia, 47-23, and held a 40-27 ground ball advantage.

Catholic returns to action this Tuesday, with a CAC game at Marymount at 2:30 p.m.
